ASE offers a wide range of courses within the arts and humanities curriculum. ASE students can also participate in an education programme, where they will be placed in local schools for a semester, or work in tutorials or internships. For additional information about these special programmes, please contact us at ase@asebath.org.
Education Class

Nelson House LibraryThe ASE study centre is located in the centre of Bath, within easy walking distance of all our student residences. Courses are taught primarily in Nelson House, a re-furbished Georgian town house, which was occupied (briefly) by Admiral Lord Nelson during his frequent visits to the city. ASE inhabits all six floors of this historic building which provides classrooms, tutorial rooms, a library with internet access, computers, staff offices, a student common room and a courtyard garden. The ASE library is course-related, holding all the critical texts and source material required for each ASE course.

18th Century House and Garden PresentationAll ASE professors are specialists in their fields, and many are from Oxford colleges. Class sizes are small and intimate (with an absolute maximum of 13) to ensure that seminars are interactive and that students receive the utmost personal attention. In addition, ASE professors take learning outside the classroom and into cities and landscapes directly related to the subjects studied. Please peruse the full list of course study trips.
