Because the ASE study centre and all of the student
residences are buildings of historic and/or architectural importance, SMOKING
IS PROHIBITED IN ALL ASE PREMISES. However, students may smoke in
the courtyard of Nelson House, on the patios and in the gardens of their
residences.
The Programme reserves the right to dismiss a student at its discretion
for either unsatisfactory behaviour or consistent non-attendance. Students
must conform to the laws of the country. Serious offences may lead to deportation.
Additionally, any matters arising between ASE and overseas students
will be settled by English Law.
Refunds Policy
Advanced Studies in England incurs many expenses
as it plans for and implements its programme. Many of these costs cannot
be recovered when a student withdraws after accepting an invitation to
the Programme.
Thus we must observe the following policy on refunds in order to protect
the interests of all students and the financial commitments of ASE.
- This policy applies to all students who withdraw from Programme participation
for any reason, who fail to appear when the Programme commences or who
are dismissed from the Programme.
- At the time of application students must submit a cheque for $50.
This is non-refundable.
- Once students are admitted to the Programme they must, in writing,
accept or reject the offer within two weeks of the offer of admission.
At that time a non-refundable £500 deposit must be submitted.
Under no circumstances is the £500 deposit refundable. This is
because of costs incurred in the administration of the Programme.
- Students who officially withdraw, in writing, from Programme participation
by the deadline by which the balance of fees is due will not only forfeit
the non-refundable deposits (the $50 application deposit and the £500
Programme deposit) but will also be billed for all expenses already
incurred or committed by ASE for the students participation.
- Students who withdraw from Programme participation after the final
payment deadline will be held accountable for the entire Programme fee.
- Only for well-documented, serious emergencies or medical problems
will ASE consider a modification of any of the policies described
above. All appeals will be decided by the Programme Director.
