Holding class in the Abbey SquareThe Advanced Studies in England Summer School offers students the opportunity to undertake a five week course of study for credit in the world-heritage city of Bath, England. The Summer School comprises two courses (click here for course options), one of which is a small Seminar Course taught by a professor from an affiliate U.S. college or university. The second is a Core Course taught by British faculty. Each Seminar Course is limited to twelve students who will be recruited to the course and to the Summer School by the professor teaching the seminar. Students seeking admission apply directly to the professor, whose name and address appears beneath the course description. The professor must receive these applications by February 18 2008 at the latest. Since places fill rapidly you are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Students also select from two Core Courses, one of which explores the architectural history of the city while the other examines those novels by Jane Austen which make significant use of the city of Bath.

ASE recommends four credits for each of the two courses. It is the responsibility of individual students to ascertain from their colleges whether grades from these courses will transfer.

The cliffs of CornwallClasses are held daily from Monday-Thursday, with Fridays reserved for course-related study and study trips. In addition, there are wholeprogramme visits to Glastonbury, Stonehenge and Oxford as well as a weekend in Cornwall which includes cliff walks, and visits to Cornish harbour villages and beaches. Transportation, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and evening meal for this weekend trip are all included in the cost of the Programme.

The Abbey from the Roman Baths Housing for the Summer School is in beautiful historic town houses throughout the city centre of Bath. These are well equipped for self-catering.
