Course Choices
A normal semester load is 16 credits, which can be obtained by:
  1. Four seminar courses.
  2. The Education Programme (including school placement) plus two seminar courses.
  3. The Tutorial Programme (full year, semester, or Independent Study) plus two seminar courses.(*)
  4. A Classical or Modern Language plus three seminar courses.(*)
  5. An Internship plus three seminar courses.

Applicants intending to enrol for the Education Programme must place this as their first and second choices, and include a formal letter making a strong case for selection, outlining relevant experience and education-related courses already taken, and specifying the nature of their preferred placement.

Applicants intending to enrol for the Tutorial Programme must place this as their first and second choices, accompanying their application with a letter outlining relevant experience. Applicants for the Advanced Creative Writing tutorial must also enclose one short piece of their own work with their application.

Applicants intending to enrol for a Classical or Modern Language or an Internship must place this as their first choice and accompany their application with a letter outlining relevant experience.

Enter EIGHT course choices in order of preference. Make certain that you have ALL of your choices approved before you leave the USA and keep a copy of this list for your information..

Due to the considerable reading load attached to many English courses, ASE advises against including more than FIVE among your eight choices.

Courses will only run if there is a viable level of enrolment. Acceptance to courses cannot be guaranteed, but every effort will be made to provide students with their first and second choices.

Print a copy of your final course choices. You will be surprised how quickly you forget which choices you have made.
