The Advanced Studies in England Summer School offers students the opportunity to undertake a five week course of study for credit in the world-heritage city of Bath, England.

Summer School comprises two courses, one of which is a Seminar Course taught by a professor from one of ASE's US Affiliate Institutions. The second is a Core Course taught by British faculty.

Each Seminar Course is limited to thirteen students, who are recruited to the course and to the Summer School by the professor teaching the seminar. Students seeking admission therefore apply directly to the professor, whose name, email and postal address appear beneath the course description. The professor must receive these applications by February 18, 2010 at the latest. Since places fill rapidly you are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Students also select from two Core Courses, The Triumph of Georgian Bath, which explores the architectural history of the city, and Jane Austen in Bath, which examines those novels by Jane Austen which make significant use of Bath.

ASE recommends four credits for each of the two courses, but it is the responsibility of each student to make certain that credit transfer has been approved before leaving for England.

Classes are held daily from Monday-Thursday, with Fridays reserved for course-related study and study trips. In addition, there are whole-programme visits to Glastonbury, Stonehenge and Oxford as well as an all-inclusive three-day weekend in Cornwall featuring cliff walks, and visits to Cornish harbour villages and beaches.

Housing for the Summer School is in beautiful historic town houses throughout the city centre of Bath. These are well equipped for self-catering.
