Day Trips

Through organised day trips, we give you the chance to discover some of the best-known national and historic sites, as well as some of the less accessible, most beautiful parts of England and Wales.
On the first weekend of each semester, all ASE students travel by bus to the ancient stone circle at Stonehenge, taking in the nearby city of Salisbury, with its magnificent cathedral. We then continue on to the picturesque village and abbey of Lacock, now famous as a location for the Harry Potter films, ending the day with a traditional meal in a local pub.

Later in the semester, there are voluntary day trips to more remote areas such as the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, or the so-called Isle of Purbeck on the Dorset coast, and various pretty villages in the Cotswolds. These trips may include hikes in stunning scenery or visits to places of historic and cultural interest, and provide a chance to get to know more about the country - as well as each other.

The cost of all ASE-organized trips and whole programme events is included in the programme fee.
