It is a 90 minute train ride from London to Bath

Established in 1989, ASE is a non-profit educational institution offering semester, full-year and summer programmes to high calibre undergraduates from U.S. colleges and universities. We provide a culturally stimulating and intellectually rigorous study abroad experience. Our students enjoy a supportive, caring environment in which to live and work, and a multitude of challenging opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

The ASE Staff

ASE Staff at the Farewell TeaAt ASE, we make it a priority to ensure that our students are offered a balance of challenging academic work and enriching cultural experiences. We, the ASE team, have a long-standing open-door policy at our offices in Nelson House, and work hard to foster a group dynamic that will allow students to feel comfortable away from home, and then to seek out new adventures, both academic and social.

Challenging Academics

Seminar in progressASE is associated with University College, Oxford, and many of our highly qualified British faculty are from Oxford University. We offer courses in a broad range of Arts and Humanities subjects; all teaching takes place in small seminar groups and tutorial-style classes.

The World Heritage City of Bath

A view of Bath AbbeyOur study centre is situated at the heart of the beautiful, eighteenth-century city of Bath, 90 minutes west of London. Students are housed in historic properties throughout the city centre, within walking distance of the Roman Baths, the Abbey, the Theatre Royal, galleries, museums and an array of restaurants and pubs.

Residentials and Study Trips

At Chepstow Castle near the Welsh borderAt ASE, we aim to give our students an "insider's view" of Britain, its landscape and culture, through residentials in Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon and Day Trips in remote, beautiful parts of the English countryside. Many of our courses also include outstanding study trips, some of which are residential.

Cultural Immersion

An ASE student at his school placementBesides being housed in the Bath community, students are helped to develop links with local people through internships, school placements and volunteer work. A team of energetic social and cultural assistants is on hand to facilitate participation in local events, including a wide range of city-based clubs, sports teams and societies. Budding artists and musicians will find numerous opportunities to paint, play and perform in Bath.
